When the Apricot Trees Bloom

[Verse 1]

You left your blue scarf by the door

The rain kept time along the floor

I folded it beside the bread

And saved the words I never said

[Pre-Chorus]

Down by the river, dusk turns gold

Your name is still the one I hold

[Chorus]

Come back when the apricot trees bloom

Come back and fill this quiet room

I’ll meet you where the old bridge bends

With all my love, and no pretends

[Verse 2]

The market seller asks of you

I say the hills look greener too

At Sunday lunch your empty chair

Still catches sunlight in its hair

[Pre-Chorus]

Down by the river, dusk turns gold

Your name is still the one I hold

[Chorus]

Come back when the apricot trees bloom

Come back and fill this quiet room

I’ll meet you where the old bridge bends

With all my love, and no pretends

[Bridge]

If winter keeps the mountain road

I’ll light the stove and share the load

No map can change the way I know

The turn your footsteps take to home

[Final Chorus]

Come back when the apricot trees bloom

Come back and fill this quiet room

I’ll meet you where the old bridge bends

With all my love, and no pretends

[Outro]

Your blue scarf waits beside the door

The rain has stopped; I ask no more
