What you can do without paying anything

Here is the free plan, item by item. Nothing on this list is a trial that runs out; the daily credits top up every day for as long as you like.

• Your first song with no account. Open Create, describe the song or paste your lyrics, and generate. You get two versions of a complete song with vocals. Signing in afterwards moves the song into your library.
• Two generations a day after a free sign-up. Each generation produces two versions, so that's four full songs a day. Credits top back up to two every day (UTC); they don't accumulate, so an unused day isn't lost forever, it's simply a day you didn't need.
• Full-length songs, not clips. On our current engine the typical song runs about three and a half minutes, with real verses and a chorus. You can ask for up to five minutes.
• The song starts playing while it's still being made. Lyrics and a live stream appear about half a minute after you press generate; the finished, mastered versions land a couple of minutes later. The live preview is marked as a preview so you never mistake it for the final song.
• Two ways to write: describe the song in a sentence and Tunely writes the lyrics, or paste your own words in Custom mode and it composes and sings them.
• Vocals or no vocals. Instrumentals are one toggle; about a quarter of all songs made on Tunely have no vocals at all.
• Any language you can type. Write the brief or the lyrics in that language and the song is sung in it.
• Listen as many times as you like, share by link, keep the song in your library. No watermark, no voice tag, no expiry.
• The free extras: the lyrics generator, the style Boost that sharpens your description, and the Audio to MIDI converter. The vocal remover costs one credit per split, the same credit you'd spend on a song.

What free doesn't include, and what each thing costs

We charge for three things: keeping the file, the upgraded engine with its extra tools, and commercial rights. The exact prices, so you don't have to hunt for them on the pricing page:

A generation is one press of the button and always returns two songs. That is true on every plan, so a paid plan never gives you fewer versions than free; it gives you more generations, better audio and the rights.

Why the free plan has no watermark

Most people make a song on Tunely for a person: a birthday, a partner, a friend, a child. A voice tag reading out a brand name in the middle of the chorus ruins exactly that moment, so we never added one. Instead we ask for $1.99 when you want to keep the file, and nothing when you only want to play it or send the link. The share page plays the full song on any phone, no app and no account needed for the listener.

How the limits work day to day

A few details that come up in support mail, answered once.

• Credits top up to two per day, measured in UTC, not in your local time zone. If you're in the Americas, the refill happens in the evening.
• A failed generation doesn't cost you. The credit is reserved when you press generate and refunded if the engine fails; you'll see it back in your balance.
• The first song without an account is limited to one per visitor. After that, sign in; it takes an email address or a Google account and about ten seconds, and it claims the song you just made into your library.
• The engine refuses two kinds of input: lyrics copied from an existing song (“your lyrics contain copyrighted material”) and style descriptions that name a real artist. Since September 2026, artist names are rewritten automatically into a description of the sound, so the song still generates.
• Free-plan songs are personal use. Playing them for friends, at a party, in a family video that isn't monetised: all fine. Putting one in an ad, a monetised channel or a release requires Pro; see can you use AI songs commercially.

How this compares with “free” elsewhere

Without naming names, there are three patterns you'll run into, and it's worth checking a tool against them before you invest an evening in it.

• Trial credits that never renew. You get ten songs, then a paywall. Tunely's credits renew daily.
• Watermarked or voice-tagged free output. The song is “free” but unusable. Tunely's free songs are clean.
• A credit card before the first generation, sometimes with an automatic upgrade after a trial. Tunely never asks for a card until you decide to buy something.

The honest catch on our side is the one above: keeping the file costs $1.99, and commercial use costs a subscription. If you want a free tool that lets you download unlimited songs with no strings, we're not it, and we'd rather say so here than in a checkout screen.

What people make on the free plan

We looked at four months of songs to see what the free plan is used for. Love songs for a partner are the largest group, close to one in ten. Songs with a specific person's name in them are next, then rap, birthday songs, songs for a best friend, lullabies and songs for children, worship songs, songs for mum, business jingles, and breakup songs. Roughly six in ten songs start from lyrics the person pasted in, rather than a description.

Songs were sung in more than twenty languages in that period. English is the largest at about a third; Arabic and Urdu, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Hindi and German follow, with Russian, Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Tagalog, Telugu and Tamil all appearing regularly.

One review from our reviews page, from someone who made a birthday song for a friend: “The song turned out surprisingly good, interesting melody with style, nice vocal interpretation.” That is roughly the reaction we're aiming for on the free plan; the paid plan exists for the people who then want to keep making them.

When it's worth paying

Three situations, in order of how often we see them.

• You made one song and want to keep it: pay $1.99 for that song and stay on the free plan. That's what most people do.
• You make songs every week, or you want the upgraded engine, WAV files, the Remix tools (cover in a new genre, extend, add vocals to your own instrumental, mash two songs together) and AI cover art: Pro. The yearly price works out cheaper than five single downloads a month.
• You need commercial rights: Pro or Ultra, and every song already in your library becomes licensed, with a certificate you can download for each one.
