Making a song
- What you give it
- A one-line description (Simple mode), or your own lyrics plus a style (Custom mode). Instrumental is a switch.
- First playable preview
- About 20 to 30 seconds after you press Create: lyrics and a stream you can listen to while it finishes.
- Finished song
- Usually about a minute after Create; nine in ten are finished inside three minutes, depending on the song's length (measured on real generations since 20 September).
- Takes per generation
- 2 finished takes every time, on every plan. Pick one or keep both.
- Length
- Set by what you give it: half of the songs made from a description run 2:38 to 3:49, and a song made from pasted lyrics runs as long as the lyrics. About six in ten songs run 2 to 4 minutes, about one in twelve runs past five, and the longest ran 7:19 (measured from the audio files of songs made between 4 September and 4 October). On Pro and Ultra, the Length setting in Custom mode (1:00 to 5:00) sets it directly.
- Languages
- It sings in the language of your lyrics or description. Lyrics in more than 20 languages come through every month; Language version lists 14 languages for re-singing an existing song.
- Interface languages
- English, 中文, Español, Português, Français, Deutsch, 日本語, हिन्दी.
- If a generation fails
- Nothing is charged: the credit is returned automatically. Lyrics that match a copyrighted song are declined before generation. A brief that names a real artist is rewritten into a description of the style and made from that, with no second charge.

- Cancelling
- Any time from the account page; the plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then the account returns to the free plan. If a renewal payment fails, the account works as a free account until a payment goes through.
- Changing plans
- One subscription per account. Pro to Ultra: right away, paying only the prorated difference for the rest of the billing period; the billing date stays and Ultra's extra credits arrive pro rata for the rest of the month. Ultra to Pro: at the next renewal, with Ultra until then and a free undo before it. Monthly to annual or back: by email.
Files and formats
- Audio
- MP3 on every plan (kept for $1.99 on the free plan); lossless WAV on Pro and Ultra, prepared on the first request.
- Stems
- A vocal stem and an instrumental stem for any song (1 credit, Pro and Ultra).
- Lyrics files
- Time-synced .lrc and .srt files for any song with lyrics, free on every plan for signed-in accounts. The same timing drives the lyrics on screen: each line lights up when its first word is sung, timed from the vocal of that exact take.
- Video
- A music video (MP4) for any song (1 credit, Pro and Ultra).
- Certificate
- A commercial-use certificate per song with a licence code in the form TNLY-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX, printable as PDF.
Rights and privacy
- Free plan songs
- Licensed for personal use.
- Pro and Ultra songs
- Every song in a paid member's library is licensed for commercial use, including songs first made on the free plan. When the plan ends, songs from paid time keep their licence and their downloads; songs made after it ends, or while a renewal payment is unpaid, are free-plan songs.
- Your uploads
- Audio you upload stays yours; temporary copies are deleted once the generation settles.
- Gallery
- Every song starts private. Sharing a song makes its link work for whoever you send it to; it goes into the Discover gallery only if you add it there, and you can take it out or make it private again from its menu. Only songs we have picked by hand are open to search engines.
- Account
- Change your artist name or sign-in email from the account page; delete the account and all songs from the same page.
Versions of a song (artist workflow)
- Language version
- Re-sings a song you made with adapted lyrics in another language; key, tempo and structure carry over. Saved as a version under the original. 2 credits, two takes.
- Adapting the lyrics
- The version panel writes a singable adaptation into the chosen language for you to edit, or you paste your own.
- Add vocals
- Sung vocals on an instrumental you made in Tunely or uploaded. The backing is re-performed at the same tempo; the vocal stem is available for your own mix. 1 credit.
- Master
- Mark the approved take as the master of a family; versions are made from it and the library keeps them together.
Your first song needs no account.
Questions people ask
How long does Tunely take to make a song?
A playable preview with lyrics appears about 20 to 30 seconds after you press Create, and the finished song usually lands in about a minute — nine in ten inside three minutes, depending on its length.
How many versions do I get per generation?
2, on every plan. Each generation returns two finished takes so you can pick the better one.
What is the maximum song length?
Songs are not cut to a fixed maximum: the length follows your lyrics or description. About six in ten songs run 2 to 4 minutes, about one in twelve runs past five, and the longest made between 4 September and 4 October ran 7:19. On Pro and Ultra, the Length setting in Custom mode (1:00 to 5:00) lands within a second of the time picked nine times in ten.
What file formats can I download?
MP3 on every plan (a one-time $1.99 per song on the free plan), lossless WAV on Pro and Ultra, plus vocal and instrumental stems, .lrc and .srt lyric files, and an MP4 music video on paid plans.
Is there a watermark?
No. Songs, downloads and music-video exports carry no watermark on any plan.
What does the free plan include?
The first song without an account, then 2 generations a day (4 songs) with free listening and sharing. Keeping the MP3 costs $1.99 per song, or is included with Pro.
How much do Pro and Ultra cost?
Pro is $13.90 a month or $8.90 a month billed yearly for 100 generations a month. Ultra is $29.90 a month or $19.90 a month yearly for 300 generations. Both add 50 credits in the first month.
Can I use my own lyrics?
Yes. Custom mode sings the lyrics you paste, in the language you wrote them in, with section tags such as [Verse] and [Chorus] to shape the song.
Can I use the songs commercially?
On Pro and Ultra, yes: every song in your library is licensed for commercial use with a certificate and licence code, including songs first made on the free plan. Free-plan songs are for personal use.
What happens if a generation fails?
The credit is refunded automatically and the panel explains why. Lyrics that copy a copyrighted song are declined before anything is generated. A brief that names a real artist is not declined: it is rewritten into a description of the style and made from that, without charging twice.
Which languages does it sing in?
The language of your lyrics or description. Lyrics in more than 20 languages come through every month; the Language version panel lists 14 languages and can adapt your lyrics into them.
Is there an API?
